spiderJerusalem - "A great film adaptation of Philip K Dick's novel of the same name. It's directed by Richard Linklater (Waking Life) and has a unique style: digitally shot but then animated which adds to the surreal feel that's an intrinsic part of the plot itself (surveillance society, war on drugs, paranoia, non-conformity etc.).

Interestingly, Alex Jones makes an appearance in the movie and gets tasered :-)

The commentary track on the DVD (including Philip K Dick's daughter Isa Dick) is pretty interesting as well with some interesting trivia and commentary on the more subtle aspects of the movie.

My favorite quote from the movie is the existential question:

"What does a scanner see? Into the head? Down into the heart? Does it see into me? Into us? Clearly or darkly? I hope it sees clearly because I can't any longer see into myself. I see only murk. I hope for everyone's sake the scanners do better, because if the scanner sees only darkly the way I do, then I'm cursed and cursed again. ""

Jeffrey - "A Scanner Darkly is a movie that keeps you guessing till the end. It is a pretty unique looking movie thanks to the rotoscoping done to the film in editing. Another great Philip K. Dick story turned into a great movie!" (link to entry)
Nenad Ristic - "The best Phillip K. dick treatment. The rotoscoping works very well with the story, and the movie stays faithful to the original novel, whil updating it at the same time" (link to entry)
Josh Spaceten - "Linklater's excellent directing, combined with amazing acting brings the characters and their insanity to life ! A great adaptation of the novel by Philip K. Dick." (link to entry)
