Setting Up Campaigns

How do campaigns work?

Once logged into MyLikes, click 'create a campaign.' Then describe your product/service, set your maximum cost-per-click (CPC) and maximum budget. Once those fields are set up, we take it from there. We will begin monitoring the number of clicks or views you receive and pay you on a per click/view basis.

What will I be charged for my campaign?

If you fund your campaign using a credit card, then your MyLikes campaigns will work on a weekly budget. You will only be charged the amount spent on a weekly basis. For example, if you only received $100 worth of clicks in a particular week, you will only be charged $100 even if your maximum weekly budget is set to a larger amount.

If you fund your campaign using a PayPal account, then your campaign will have a one-time budget, and will not renew on a weekly basis.

How do I stop my campaign from renewing another week?

You will need to pause your campaign before the next weekly cycle begins. Even if your campaign runs out of budget for the week, you still need to pause the campaign, or click the 'stop auto-renewing campaign' button. If you don't do this, your campaign will renew its budget for the next weekly cycle.

How should I describe my campaign?

Describe the product or service you would like our publishers to promote. Keep your description brief and to the point. You may also provide a sample message that publishers can use to promote your product, service or brand to their audience. Adding a relevant photo for your campaign greatly increases the chances of attracting more publishers. Both the sample message and photo are optional, but we recommend adding them to your campaign.

Can I specify what I want included in my campaign's ads?

In the campaign's description, you can provide a guideline of what our publishers should include in their posts or videos, whether that be screenshots of your website or encouraging people to click links.

Managing Campaigns

Can I edit the specifications of my active campaigns?

Yes. By clicking the edit button on the campaign's page, you can easily alter your CPC, weekly budget, description, sample messages and photo--basically everything!

Why isn’t my campaign receiving many clicks?

Typically, this is because your CPC bid is too low. We recommend increasing your CPC. As with other advertising networks, the higher your CPC the higher the number of clicks you receive, and therefore better quality of your clicks. If you have a higher bid, you'll also attract publishers with bigger followings. Another way to increase traffic to your campaign is by increasing your Publisher Reach. For more information about Publisher Reach, please see the section below titled Quality Report.

Can I pause my campaigns?

You can stop your campaign at ANY time by clicking the pause button on the campaign's page. Pausing a campaign means your campaign will no longer be shown to our publishers and it will not reactivate again during your next weekly period. To unpause a campaign, you can click "Resume Campaign," and it will immediately become active again.

Does my campaign stop spending if I've paused it?

While pausing your campaign stops it from being shown to the publishers, you will still be charged for clicks on existing posts during the 24 hour period after you paused the campaign.

Publishers

Who are the MyLikes publishers?

We have a wide pool of people who register using their Twitter, Youtube, or Tumblr accounts. Some have a large following, some have a small niche following.

Sponsored Ads

Do these ads really work?

Absolutely! Because our publishers are choosing to promote your product in their own voice, their audience is extremely receptive and this leads to higher click-through rates. We ensure relevance by making sure that publishers are incentivized based on the quality of clicks. This ensures that publishers chooses promotions that are most relevant to them.

Where will my campaign's ads be seen?

Our publishers will talk about your product on Twitter, Tumblr, Google Plus and other social platforms

How does MyLikes approve ads for sponsorship?

We have a team devoted to reviewing and processing video and text posts from our publishers. We make sure our publishers are adhering to strict guidelines and provide them with real time feedback.

What clicks am I charged for?

You will be charged only for valid clicks on your campaign. Our system detects clicks which come from various Twitter crawlers and other invalid sources, as well as page views which are very short (i.e., clicks that bounced back from your landing page) and out-of-location clicks, if your campaign is targeting a specific location. Those clicks are filtered out and you will not be charged for them.

Are these ads FTC compliant?

Certainly. We are committed to transparency- all sponsored posts are marked as such and compliant with FTC regulations.

Clicks & Spam

Do I pay the same amount for all clicks and views?

No, you do not - you only pay for quality clicks. Exact rates vary based on the quality of the click or view.

How does MyLikes decide the quality of clicks and views?

The MyLikes engineering team has worked on Google AdSense and Adwords and understands click-spam quite well. We pre-process all clicks and video views and only charge you for legitimate traffic. Our machine-learning based click spam system takes into account multiple factors including click-through rate, time, location and pattern of clicks to monitor and remove spammy clicks. We constantly monitor the quality of our publishers and clicks and work tirelessly to ensure high quality clicks and views. We pay our publishers based on the quality of clicks. We our patent-pendng technology determines the quality of the click in real-time and prices you accordingly.

What happens to sponsored ads that attract spam clicks?

The MyLikes engineering team features the project lead and many of the engineers who worked on Google AdSense and has a sophisticated and robust understanding of click-spam. MyLikes employs an advanced set of machine-learning algorithms which analyze users and clicks based on various factors including IP addresses, timing historical activity and public data about the publisher. The system is also thoroughly monitored and verified through human evaluations.

Quality Reports

What kind of reports do I get from MyLikes?

We offer detailed reports to tell you who posted Likes for your campaign, how many followers they reached and how many clicks were generated. You can organize your data by day, campaign and publisher. You can either view the reports directly on our interface or you can download them in CSV format. We also tell you how your campaign is doing relative to other campaigns in the system. Finally, you can easily generate URLs from Google Analytics to track the effectiveness of your campaigns and measure conversions.

Can I see what clicks and views I am paying for?

On your campaign's dashboard, there is a tab where you can see exactly what clicks you are paying for.

What is "Publisher Reach"?

On your campaign's dashboard, you may see a section named "Publisher Reach". This shows what fraction of our publishers are seeing your campaign. The higher this value, the more publishers are seeing/considering your campaign and (hopefully) will decide to post it to their audience. If your publisher reach is very low (1% or lower) it is likely that you won't get many posts (and therefore clicks) for your campaign.

How do I increase my Publisher Reach?

There are a number of ways to increase your publisher reach:

  •  Raising your CPC bid so that your campaign isn't crowded out by other competing campaigns.
  •  Making sure you have a large enough budget so that large publishers would be able to select your campaign.

However, note that it is unlikely your Publisher Reach will ever be 100%. If your reach is very small (under 5%) try one of the methods above. But if your reach is large enough (over 30%) you might not be able to increase it any further. In that case, consider improving the sample tweet, or your landing page, so that the publishers who are seeing your campaign are more likely to select it.
