    Free online language learning. The site offers free online classes to learn new languages and adds a social networking aspect to the process. I haven't gone very far into the lessons, but they seem to be at least useful to learn enough to communicate in that language. Jan 22

    The amazing, open-source HDR tone-mapping software Qtpfsgui has evolved into the newly named, and more easily pronounced, Luminance HDR. It still has all of the functionality of its predecessor, but comes with several welcome improvements and new features. Jan 18

    I think I have finally found my "be all end all" media center. Moovida has a gorgeous UI which responds smoothly and quickly, played every file format I tried, and can download cover art and synopses for TV episodes and movies. Plus, it's free! :D Jan 27

    Here's a very interesting online service. You can submit a book that you have written and have it published. The site says that your books can be distributed to marketplaces such as Amazon.com and your revenue will be 80% of the sale of the book. Jan 8

    This is a neat little web app that generates continuous white noise. I have found white noise to help me fall asleep at night. The site offers several different "noises" to choose from and even soundscapes to download, such as a thunderstorm. Jan 7
