Did J.K. Rowling save the best for last? I think so. As moved and engrossed as I was by the previous six, this is the ONLY Harry Potter book which literally brought me to tears! I can't tell you why because it would ruin the book, but if you haven't read it, do so. Believe me, if you are a romantic, softie, or even half-way human, it'll touch you too when you discover the truth about certain subjects. from care4pets - liked from zui's entry

A series that created a media empire & made the author the richest author in the UK, perhaps the world! Harry Potter has everything you need in a book, humor, drama, Love, hate, mystery, magic & Flying Broomsticks! from pia - liked from dilip1456's entry

ranat - Good series specially for childrens.
vijiboopathy - The book of the Tom is very miraculous as it takes Harry to the past and it shows the past to him.
care4pets - 2nd book of the series...start to learn the main characters in-depth, development of new ones (like Ginny Weasley) and discover more about Tom Riddle (aka Lord Voldemort). Great setup for rest of the series!

This book scared me when I was a kid, but it scared me in the best possible way. I think it is OK to be scared sometimes so kids can figure out how to deal with that fear. This book helps teach coping skills as well as providing a fantasy adventure. from beanfair - liked from katrina's entry

Ooh, one of the most action-packed books that still takes place totally at Hogwarts. Who can resist the interaction from the rival schools and the competition itself? Marked with a pivotal ending (that I won't give away for those who haven't read it!), this is an awesome book and became a cinema hit! from care4pets

Sometimes called the "Douglas Anderson" edition, the 1987/1988 three-volume printing of The Lord of the Rings incorporates the final corrections Tolkien made to the book. No previous edition includes all the ... more ... from michael_martinez

As a kid this was my favorite Dr. Seuss book. I only wish I'd had the opportunity to meet Theodore Dreyser in C'ville. Who do you like better, Thing 1 or Thing 2? from birdman - liked from katrina's entry

5th book of the series...you begin to discover all the things that are occuring outside of Hogwarts, in addition to the mayhem at the school. Setups nicely for the 6th and 7th books that are totally action-packed. This one does elude to the dark/sad tones that come with the later series as you find out towards the end (again, don't want to give it away, read it!). from care4pets
naturegirl7 - I liked all of the Harry Potter books and this one was not exception. Harry really matured in Order of the Phoenix.

This is my 2nd favorite entry in the series. I like the new direction the author took, even though it wasn't a new direction really. Let us say certain things in this books allowed her to change the flow and narrative a bit. from norrathreaver - liked from totally_toni's entry

My favorite Eric Carle book!!! Classic children's literature...seriously, who didn't like putting their fingers through all the holes as they read the story? from care4pets

naturegirl7 - A great book around which to build a thematic teaching unit for small children about butterflies and metamorphosis.

I had stopped reading anything other than Science Fiction for quite a while until I was introduced to the world of Harry Potter. It didn't take at first as I'd seen a bit of the first two movies and wasn't all that interested. Then I read the books and my opinion completely changed. The writing is top notch. JK's ability to hide details and use them again later is superb. I would recommend this to almost any age of reader. from norrathreaver

I love, love, love this book! My children's copy of this book was dog eared, jelly stained and held together with a prayer! They are adults with children of their own, but no child ever forgets Green Eggs and Ham. from polly479 - liked from sdesciencelover's entry

evelynsaenz - One of my children's favorite books. A great way to encourage trying new foods also.

My fifth grade teacher read this book to our class and I've never been the same. This book engendered in me a love of science fiction and fantasy that remains strong to this day. from rendiru - liked from madmojo's entry

Great books for kids. Lots of lessons that go along with a fantastical adventure where children from our world enter the world of Narnia where animals can speak, unicorns, dragons, griffins and other wonderful creatures exist. The land is in peril though and it's up to the children to help save it. from ahanneken - liked from tiany's entry

Dr. Seuss is the king of entertainment for children for decades. Everyone remembers this rhyme, artwork and stories. Horton Hears a Who is another favorite around here, especially after the children saw the movie of the same name. from mamasaid

Absolutely brilliant books. They are very philosophical, perhaps the most philosophical fantasy novels I have read. The story starts out slow and gets really good in the second (my favorite) and the third books. Be forewarned though that these books are quite anti-religion/anti-church so many people may be offended. The Golden Compass movie was excellent too. Sadly, I'm not sure it did well enough to justify producing the rest of the trilogy. from rsingh - liked from soumya's entry

The story of Charlotte saving Wilbur the pig from slaughter by spinning her beautiful webs is a classic for generations. We saw the play at our local library, which brought the book to life for my children. Read the book, watch the movie and celebrate the joy of friendship with your elementary school children as you read Charlotte's Web together. from mamasaid

This is my daughters newest book - we've read it just a few times - my daughter is currently only interested in the Cat and the "Snort". The Illustrations are a bit dated but I think its a simple story that will click with her. from pratima
