Even if you hate camping and the outdoors, I think everyone should try it at least once. It was actually a lot less hippie than I was thinking it was going to be. The level of creativity, art, and community is astounding. from madmojo

Officially billed as a protest against dependancy on fossile fules, like many of these events in Portland for most people its an excuse to get a little crazy. The 2009 World Nake Bike Ride was held on June 14th in Portland with an estimated turn out of 3-5000 people. WNBK is part of the larger two week Pedalpalooza Festival. from higgsboson

I've always wanted to go to Bumbershoot, mostly to see just one or two of the bands, although there are always *so* many good bands and artist there, but not a person for crowds. Just the same, I somehow end up driving down around Seattle Center every year when it's happening, so I get none of the fun of Bumbershoot, but all of the pain dealing with the traffic ;-) from cbellevie - liked from katrina's entry

Where did my first Isis Wings dance in 2008. Fantastic festival, great food and so many amazing performers! from fishoutoforder

We've been to Maui twice - both at the time of this festival. It was so cool to have this going on - lazed around on the beach all day and watched great movies in the evening (Maui didn't seem to have that much night life..). The venues were amazing - mostly gold courses with massive screens set up - got to watch movies "under the stars". Very nice. from aindrila

bindu - Maui has no nightlife life... Believe me we looked. All you can do is go have dinner somewhere come back and maybe walk on the beach. Watching movies outside sounds very cool. Now if they would only screen Dark Knight ;)

Near the end of the festival season, a festival takes place with a nice vibe, great beer and an impressive lineup from krizzz

Whats not to like? Over 60 varieties of apples and pears to sample, many available for purchase, often for much less than the grocery store. There is also food, live music, activities for kids such as pumpkin painting, face painting, etc. A great family event, if you happen to be in Portland when its happening. from higgsboson
