The Louvre is a way to walk back through time and gain perspective on the present. The paintings, sculptures, and jewelry exhibits provide examples of the place that the vibrant French society has held in Occidental culture. When you visit, you'll forget your place, the time, and yourself. It's a perfect place to forget your problems, hang out with friends and family, and get inspired. from quesea

I *almost* got to go here when I was in NYC. I ended up doing the Guggenheim instead. That happened because I was carrying a drink at the moment when I walked up to it. I love their website! Especially the timelines. I was just in there using them earlier today. from kmeelah - liked from boxercab's entry

Just call it Gemini...this museum has two "personalities" The West wing is full of historical, old paintings...the East wing has newer, modern artwork and is my personal favorites with works by M.C. Escher and Henri Matisste...both wings are have lovely artwork! Go down low and you'll find a walkway between the two wings, flanked by a cafeteria and gift shop...enjoy! :) from care4pets - liked from rob's entry

Atlanta GA may not be the first place you think of for world class culture but the High is definitely a fantastic experience for any mortal. The building is worth a visit in and of itself, but know that you'll find a variety of art that's going to please everyone. If you're local you must become a member and visit often. Sunday afternoons are packed so plan weekens carefully. Check the web site high.org for time and shows and remember that Mondays are a no-go. from rbarnes

Don't throw it away, give it away! Freecycle is a grass roots organization that helps your unwanted items find a new home and helps you hook up with what you need. It is how I got my dishwasher and helped a young couple furnish their entire apartment. My old windows are now cold frames in a community garden. from beanfair

This is one of the biggest museums I have visited. Located in London, the building itself is already an architectural marvel to look at. There are milions of specimens inside from insects, plants, animals, etc. There are also interactive sections where videos of in-house scientists explain the process of collecting specimens etc. But the most impressive collections I should say are those of the dinosaurs' bones, which reminds me of Ben Stiller's movie Night at the Museum. from quick24
