Coming back to Mac OS X after years adrift in Solaris and Windows was like revisiting a favorite old neighborhood after years away. Things had changed, yes. Some for the better, a few for the worse, but I knew where most everything was, and under it all had grown an entire new infrastructure, based on powerful *nix.
from dland justinlowery - Leopard was one of the best operating systems ever made, and Snow Leopard further refines an already phenomenal product.

Adium is an excellent cross-service IM client for the Mac. It enables you to connect to just about every IM service you might want to and save you the hassle of running multiple applications just to keep up with a few friends.
